My experience at Villa Riverwood
The day I moved in there was a problem with staff and it has taken several months to fill. Not a bad place for the money.
I mean no harm to anyone only thought it was interesting no house keeping staff kitchen short staff plus others.

Interesting living
It's a well-established facility with large trees and our very own groundhog. And many interesting people who have become friends and family. some of the bus trips have been very interesting. I enjoy the outside area. I am allowed to plant flowers and feed the birds.

We enjoy a sense of community with activities that enrich our lives
I have been here with my husband for about a year and a half. We chose this Villa because we liked the spacious apartment and the feeling of community and friendship that the people here have offered us. We have made many friends here. We have found activities that we enjoy. I work on the library and help out with the gardening. I also have joined the cut-ups to make mats for the homeless and I have joined chime choir which is fun and team effort.

Excellent place to establish long-lasting friendships
An excellent place to establish long-lasting friendships. Lots of activities. Happy hours with entertainment. Large patio to enjoy the out of doors. Many large trees to give that outdoor environment. You are allowed to plant flowers and to set up feeding stations for the birds.

Management is poor at communicating .
Turnover in staff is primarily due to pay.
Food has improved dramatically under new Dietary Director and servers are very good.
Activities are good in general but can change with little notice.

Highly recommend for retirement living with great staff and amenities
The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and responsive! We chose The Villa at Riverwood because of the fact that they provided 3 meals a day and also offer weekly housekeeping as well. I would totally recommend this location to others looking for independent living!

Charged rent a month after my dad died
My dad passed away on the 18th and I cleaned out his apartment 3 days early before the end of the month, turned in the keys and followed all of their instructions. We were promised by the bookkeeper we would not be charged January rent.
Low and behold, yesterday rent was debited out of my dad’s account causing all kinds of problems! I called and the Executive Director rudely told me she was too busy to deal with this and it was not her job. It was the job of the home office. I asked for a name and a number of someone in the home office to call and talk to about it and she would not help me.
My dad liked living at the Villa but dealing with the place when your parent dies is a nightmare.

Villas of Riverwood is a safe haven
My father has been a resident for three years. During these three years, his experience has been very good. The staff is always friendly and ready to help. Anytime there was a problem came up, we were notified immediately of the problem and what they were doing to handle it. The comfort of the residents is a priority. When the Corona virus hit I was very impressed at how quickly management took immediate action to keep the residents safe! While my dad wasn’t happy about not having breakfast his friends, he understands isolation is necessary. I would recommend the Villas to anyone looking for a safe retirement home for a loved one!

Our experence at the Villas
We moved my mom into the Villas a couple of weeks ago. So far she really likes it there. The food is great, the people are friendly and she feels very comfortable in her apartment. [Name removed] was so very helpful and kind with her moving in, he was always there if we had any questions and if we needed something fixed, he got it fixed for us!! Our family feels she is safe and in good hands with the staff at the Villas, our minds are at ease!!!

They care about all of us
We’re the “Snow Birds.”
My husband and I were living at the [removed].
My daughter and her husband found the Villa and introduced it to us.
It was a tough decision and we talked about it… A lot!
Finally, we all decided we should stay for six months, just to try it out.
So we came up to the Villa stayed from October till April and then we’d head back to the Lake for the Summer.
It was a great opportunity for us, and our family, to get an idea of what our lives would like at a Senior Living Community.
My husband, who originally was not in favor of downsizing and leaving his home at the lake, surprised all of us. The first day we arrived the Sales Director, [name removed] greeted us at the car, pointed to a sign in the lobby with our names on it welcoming us both and proceeded to wheel my husband into the dining area.
After we ate a wonderful lunch – my husband asked the server how much of a tip would she like, she thanked him and responded that “tipping” is not allowed.
“All this great food, in such a nice place and NO TIPPING!”
He turned to me and said, “Honey, I think I’m gonna like this place.”
The grounds are meticulous with a nice park-like atmosphere and lots of flowers. The Executive Director [name removed] and his staff do a very good job at communicating with the residents about the goings on at the Villa.
I particularly like having a Chapel – it does both Catholic and non-DE nominal services, which I think is
a comfort to the residents who no longer have the ability to get to their place of worship.
I also like the wide array of activities the Villa offers. [name removed] the Lifestyle360 director does such a good job at taking us to new and exciting places - and there is always something going on here.
Naturally things happen, nothing is perfect, personnel and schedules change - most of the residents understand it. And It’s good to know ahead of time what’s really going on instead of hearing it through the grapevine.
Overall, I have to say I am very pleased with our life here at the Villa and would encourage anyone who is looking to downsize to meet with [name removed] and [name removed], take a walk around the grounds, meet the other residents and see what your life can be like living amongst friends and people who care about you like family.

Dinning room is a disaster
We chose The Villas in part because of the dinning room and meal plan, which is part of the monthly fee. I have pages of documentation from my mother listing all the the times they run out of food, are rude to the residents or simply ignore them. They are frequently out of things, such as cookies or bananas. If you ask a different server, sometime it will be provided. Are some of the servers simply too lazy to accommodate the residents request and say "we're out of that"? The servers will walk away when a resident is try to order something. My mother has waited 25 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged or offered a beverage. These complaints have been brought to the attention of the management but nothing has changed, I have contact the corporate office, and received no response. very disappointing.

At The Villa at Riverwood our goal is to create appealing and nutritious meals as well as provide a pleasant dining experience. I was sorry to read this was not your experience. Friendly People, Excellent Food
Dad stays at the Villa at Riverwood, and it has been excellent. The people that work there are so friendly and helpful. I really like the look of the place as well. The first thing we liked was that the front door has a canopy over it so you can pull your car right up and dad isn’t standing in the weather. I also like that it has really nice décor, and most of the resident doors have decorations on them. The food is also excellent. We’ve eaten there several times, and the food is always excellent. The place is super clean, and I like that Dad is able to socialize with the other veterans there. I’d recommend The Villa to others

The Villa at Riverwood is a lovely center. Many of the staff members have been there for 10+ years. The apartments are affordable. However they are small and do not have access to outside except through the lobby. For certain residents this is good because the staff sees each and everyone coming in and out. I worry about the escape route for my grandfather if ever a fire. This location is dog friendly for 30lbs and less. My grandfather adores this community.

I'am comfortable with my mothers move to this community. She is doing well, and everything is working out great. They have a good staff at this community. They have been kind when I visit, and helpful whenever needed. The residents are very happy, and cheerful. The experience is going well, and I would recommend this community.
