Amber Court Assisted Living Communities

I am looking for a place for my aunt, who is 80 years old. I liked Lake Shore...it was clean, spacious and affordable (several hundred dollars cheaper per month for a private room). It doesn't have all the fancy chandeliers and high priced carpet, but who needs that. What I am looking for is a place where my aunt can be comfortable, well fed, assisted with her daily living activities, and to not be alone every day. I am still looking around and have not made a decision yet, but Lake Shore is number one on my list right now.

70's construction that is maintained but hasn't been upgraded. A lot of people love it. Great value. Located in a decent place. You can get water views. It's not "elegant." **includes care**

Toured Lake Shore. The young man who showed us the facility was very informative. Although the prices were right the facility itself needs some revamping. Thank you for this opportuunity to visit Lake Shore.

Very clean. Everything included, no odors at all. Observed numerous activities. Lunchtime tour guide was very informative. Beautiful outdoor space, good food choices. Monitors health issues for nutrition, felt safe. Additional care charge if needed month to month living.

I visited the place with my Dad and other family members. We like it.

I think overall care is fine, but they can definitely improve in the quality of activities and getting the residents involved. If they plan an activity and no one shows up, the staff does not seem to care. The staff could be more friendly.

Best caring loving staff. Lovely people. The food is horrible. Most people agree. Management will not address it. Even the staff hates it! I could not eat it. It is a trade off for a loving safe place.

My mother moved in about a month ago. She's very happy there. She has made some friends and spends time outside of her room. The staff and residents are very friendly. All of the staff are responsive to questions and helping out with a request. I'm very happy I moved my mother here.

The housekeeper said she cleans the rooms once a week. I noticed that there is a smell in his room. Every day or twice a day they empty the garbage they say they dust once a week, but they don't seem clean the rooms very often, it may be that my father has too much stuff and he may make it difficult for them to clean his room, so it's hard to say. Three or four times a week there is a shuttle. He has a little fridge. But he complains that they have tilapia and mac and cheese every day. Other residents seems pretty happy and one person I spoke to really loved it. They do go around and let everyone know that dinner is ready. They could be possibly a little understaffed. They have a barbeque with the warm weather and a movie area and a T.V. area. It's much smaller than others and less expensive. This place is probably the oldest of the ones I saw, its up a hill and by a lake, with a very pretty view. The first floor seems to be a little more supervised.

They had a lot more happening than others I had seen. Look at the programs of what they are offering during the day. This is very important. This community didn't offer the level of care we needed but was beautiful and a very nice community.

I am disappointed to see that the bathrooms in the resident's rooms are not clean. The tiles on the floors, walls and showers are dirty. The toilet bowel is old and appears dirty. Four people share the bathroom and viruses can be transmitted if the cleanliness of the bathrooms is not up to par. In the resident rooms nothing is moved during cleaning and therefore there is dust build up under beds and behind furniture. Residents who require assistance are not getting that assistance on a regular basis. Care plans reflect the need for assistance but this is not observed. This is a safety issue. I have brought the safety issue up to the care manager multiple times but this has not improved.

Make sure that a thorough needs evaluation plan is done before deciding to go. I know it's been ramped up to an AL status since last year but it's still critical that the condition, of the resident is appropriately matched before entry. You also need to know what your parent can realistically handle and weigh that carefully in the decision. Lastly, ask detailed questions about the longevity and responsibilities of the staff /directors so that whatever is promised in the interview process will be maintained and adjusted as needed during the stay. Although there were some very responsive people and factors, in reflection I feel we were misled and duped to a degree because our very zealous contact person disappeared, and my mother suffered the consequences of that disconnection.

The building was very clean, well decorated and had a positive aura. The staff was very receptive and sensitive in gene. Bowing, my mother could have used more personal social support in the evenings. After meals there wasn't enough for her to do and she felt isolated. Also, her room wasn't attended to properly but in general she needed more physical and emotional support than they were designed to handle.

Mom and I toured this community, it wasn't the best fit for her. The facility itself is ok, very modern. Mom wanted a more cozy setting. The outdoor grounds seemed a little more challenging also, as far as the residents being able to have outside time. It's on a hill and seemed like it would be hard for some to navigate/walk around comfortably.

I did not like this community at all. I just did not get a good vibe it just seemed like a ghost town and residents wandering looking for staff to help them.

The girl who showed us around was lovely, but the facility needed some major TLC. Everything was outdated and old and this was just not the right fit.

The facility overall did an ok job but the care was not quite what was promised. The food was not very good and lots of times arrived cold and there was not varity. For the price, I would recommend the community

Most of the residents are very inactive. There's a handful of youthful residents that participate in activities. Facility is very dated and could use a major renovation. Beautiful view of the lake. Staff is very nice.

I dont really like this place.. although most of the staff seem friendly and caring, some dont seem trustworthy. But my main complaint is that my moms room is dirty and very dusty. My mom suffers from copd and asthma and there shouldn't be dust piles enough where I can literally write my name. I'm hoping to find her a better place soon.
