Great experience
Woodcliffe Manor is hands down the best facility I could have chosen for my father. Sure the place is out of date but the care is wonderful. The staff knew my entire family by the first week. Sure the facility is on a provisional license but it doesn't show in the care and love they give.

Two Parents have resided there.
My Mother lived at Woodcliffe Manor's Dementia Unit for about 7 yrs. Then in 2010, we placed my Mother in Law there after she had several strokes and congestive heart failure. Woodcliffe isn't perfect but they do try to be kind and helpful to both the resident and the family. They have gone through several cooks in recent years so meals are constantly changing. We have friends who have needed to provide housing for their parents and the problems that Woodcliffe Manor experiences such as staff turn over and confusion about care are unfortunately typical of Personal Care Homes. Overall, we've been pleased with Woodcliffe Manor.

Substandard care for years.
Woodcliffe Manor has been operating on a provisional license for more than 3 years. They are providing substandard care and profiting at the expense of the elderly. Do not allow anyone you love to be admitted to this home.

Substandard Care
Woodcliffe Manor is on its third consecutive provisional license. The state allows four consecutive provisional licenses before their licenses is revoked. People need to be protected from homes on provisional licenses not referred to them.

Choose Woodcliffe Manor
My mother was a resident at Woodcliffe Manor for 3 1/2 years. The staff was always friendly and helpful and accommodating to her needs as she progressed through the stages of Alzheimer's disease. My father visited every day, and my brother and I visited at least once a week. We all got to know the staff very well and got to see first hand the type of care the residents received. We were very pleased with the care, attention and companionship my mother was given. I also sincerely appreciate the way they treated my father each time he visited. They really helped him through a very difficult time. The facility is not the fanciest one you will see, but it does feel like home from the minute you walk through the door.

happy with Woodcliffe Manor
My father has been a resident here for one and a half years and as a medical professional I am speaking from experience when I say, I could not be happier with the staff and the facility. He has been in six different facilities for extended periods and I have toured 3 others, Some may be more luxurious, but the level of care offered at these other facilities I found to be adequate at best. My father requires a high level of care that actually got him kicked out of the last facility he was in, which left us scrambling to find a new facility...We found Woodcliffe Manor and it has been a fantastic experience. No facility I have seen has offered the high level of activities, personal attention, quality of care and management that Woodcliffe offers. They are always helpful and accommodating to our family and I visit him at least 4 to 5 times a week and my siblings visit several times a week as well so I know my father is well cared for. I have recommended this facility to friends with aging parents, If you are looking for an assisted living facility you owe it to your loved one to consider Woodclife manor

Placement for my father.
My experience at Woodcliffe was truly incredible. The staff was absolutely loving to my father. He lived in the home for 9 months. The staff was always keeping him busy with activities and trips. I couldn't have picked a better home for my father in his final days. I would recommend Woodcliffe to anyone and everyone who is trying to place their parent or loved one.

Substandard. Do not go here!
Woodcliffe Manor is operating on its THIRD PROVISIONAL LICENSE. The state has determined that they provide substandard care they continue to have uncorrected violations. My mother was a resident here for three and a half months I deeply regret that I did not get her into a better home before she had permanent damage. Psychiatric hospitals, social workers, discharge planners and referral sources should not these subjecting people to facilities that are known to provide substandard care. There are currently 10 homes in Allegheny County on provisional licenses. No matter how difficult the Placement find someplace else.

Substandard. Do not go here
Updated February 2016 Woodcliffe Manor is now operating on their THIRD PROVISIONAL LICENSE. A provisional license is given by the state for substandard care and repeated uncorrected violations. Psychiatric hospitals, social workers, discharge planners and family members should not be subjecting people to care that is known to be substandard. Avoid the heart it do not let anyone you love be admitted to this facility. UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2014: I wrote the review smaller can be better. After three and a half months I moved my Mother to another facility. I would not recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances. Referral service should not recommend places that are on a provisional license. JUNE 2014: Woodcliffe manor is the opposite of so many of the corporate Alzheimer's units I visited in Florida and Pennsylvania . They provide all of the medical and psychological services that my mother needs in a home like setting. Caring for my Mother includes caring for her dog Lucky, the most important thing in her world. My mother doesn't need chandeliers and big dining halls she needs personal attention in a home like setting. The Alzheimers unit is small only 8 rooms and the rooms are large enough to accommodate my mother's furniture. Staff to resident ratio it's much better than in the larger homes.in some larger homes the staff didn't know each others names let alone the residence's name. The all inclucive price was a very nice surprise. They do not have additional charges based on level of care and laundry and cable are included. Thank you Holly at a Place for Mom and Tracy at Woodcliffe Manor . I could not have done it without you.

Horrible!!
This place was horrible! It was like an old run down house. I wouldn't serve my family out of that kitchen, it looked like it was from the early 1900's. The place is very cold and depressing. The carpeting was worn out, and the rooms didn't have any privacy, When you walked up the stairs and you were in their rooms, they just had beds in the corners. It was gross, it looked like there could be rats running through it. It reminds me of a place where you would just put old people and leave them to die and never come and see them again. It was just dark and cold and not caring feeling.

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Pennsylvania regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Pennsylvania regulations for Assisted Living.
