Will be better once renovation is complete
Only there a month and decided to move him closer home. In the tour they showed us a a different cottage and the cottage my loved one was in they were renovating the kitchen. They were bringing food from the cottage next door and since kitchen was unusable they used paper plates and plastic silverware. I'm sure once finished it will be beautiful. Had problem with ants in his room. Nice outdoor space and front porch. Home like atmosphere.

Palm Cottages is an assisted living and memory care community located just off I-95 in Rockledge, FL. The beautiful 5 acre campus has been carefully designed to enhance the natural beauty of the Florida landscape and to create an oasis for the residents to enjoy. Our community offers 8 home-like cottages, each containing twelve private suites and baths. Each cottage includes a screened in front porch, its own dining area and living room. Our meals are homemade and served in a 'family' type gathering with fresh varieties offered daily. We also have a 5,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse where residents can enjoy a full complement of programs. We offer a variety of activities and social gatherings such as live entertainment, parties, games, and much more.

Our family's experience
The overall experience was positive at the Palm Cottages. My aunt started out in an assisted living cottage, but was moved to a memory care cottage. She received good care while she was there. She passed away in [date removed] . The nurses were very good. I saw them in action responding to falls and other medical emergencies. The cottage was kept clean. I never noticed a urine smell that some facilities have. The executive director changed twice while she was there. When my aunt was first there, they had an activity person working on the weekend. It was nice to know that there was some scheduled activity on the weekend. I'm sure that the
funding changed because there was no longer an activity person on the weekend. I liked knowing that my Aunt had the opportunity to participate in something rather than just sitting there. It was difficult to visit and see everyone just sitting watching TV or staring outside or sleeping. Sometimes, the food smelled really good. Sometimes it looked yucky. I know several times the residents commented to me that the hot food was cold. During my Aunt's stay at the Palm Cottages, the cost of her monthly rent increased [fee removed] . That was from [date removed] to [date removed] . She had some really good caregivers that interacted with her and some that were ok. They took care of her needs.

Great Place
I go to many places to see and help take care of residents and I have to say this is one of the best. The small home like feel, which helps the residents and families bond more with other residents and staff. They have great staff and truly care about the residents. Highly Recommend!

Great Experience
My mother resided here for over a year. She started off in Assisted Living and then had to move to Memory Care up until she passed away. All of the staff were caring and compassionate. The cottages only hold up to 14 people, so I you are able to really get to know the other people in the cottage and become more like a family. They took great care of my mother and I am glad I made the decision to move my mother to Palm Cottages.

a nice community and the staff are always friendly and helpful
We really like the concept of cottage living at Palm Cottages - our loved one does not have to travel far for meals and with the meals being served almost always at the same time this forces our loved one to get out of her room and go socialize with the other residents. Even though our loved one does not always participate in the activities there are plenty of things to do. The maintenance team is always willing to help and all of the staff members are so nice. We would absolutely recommend this community to other families - but the general communication could be improve a little more.

Just What We Were Looking For
We love the experience our loved one has experienced here. Overall our loved one has settled in nicely. I would encourage others to view the community as a great option for their loved ones. The staff are very caring.
The staff communication with the family is very good. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and there are limited choices. The food and service is very good in the dining room.

It's a Great Community
Overall I like the cottage setting. They have been accommodating with allowing my loved ones to be in the same room. I'm glad I chose this community as my loved ones have consistent staff, and they are close to all the common areas. There is a nurse practitioner that is able to visit my loved ones and this is a good option, as they have worked with this individual in the past.
The staff are good at keeping me informed about my loved ones, and answer the family's questions and concerns. My loved ones always has something positive to say about the community.
Medication management, dressing, and hygiene assistance is some of the care the community is able to provide for my loved ones.
The meals, snacks, apartment, laundry, changing of linens, and housekeeping is included in the monthly fee. There is an additional fee to administer the medications. The community does have some preferred pharmacies they use and the fees might be reduced for you.
There is always some staff around to assist the residents and engage with them. This makes me feel more secure knowing my loved ones are getting the attention they need.

A comfortable place to enjoy living
This is a very homey community, it is as close to being at home as you can get. They have activities like games, card games, board games, group work outs and more for the residents to do to have a good time. They also have various holiday celebrations and special group meals. The staff made me very comfortable and they were knowledgeable on a very personal level which was great.

Disappointment
I believe that this would be good for most assisted living residents. The community made promises to us and they haven't been able to hold these promises up. This has been a unique situation for us.
It would be nice to have the community have more staff available for the residents and to assist my loved one.
The meals are good for my loved one. The activities are good for the residents and they have a good variety.

Overall a great place for my mom
Palm Cottages has a homey and smaller feeling to it. With it being smaller there are more hands on deck to give attention to the residents, and the cottages only have 12 rooms to them so it is easier to manage.

Scary Stuff
Palm Cottages is very good at putting forth a professional image to prospective and current residents. Behind the scenes is another story. When my father lived here, I had the pleasure of getting to know many of the staff. They were constantly over-worked, treated poorly, and not compensated fairly. In my dealings with two different Executive Directors, it was clear my father was a number. They’d appease me until I left. It was only until I raised hell that I got anywhere. I am well aware of the “deals” they cut different residents. I’m not sure how room rates can be “negotiated“ for different families, but they were. Thank god I had the wherewithal to demand better.
Palm Cottages will do whatever they can to sell their services to you. They’ll make promises they can’t keep and assure you they offer the best services on the Space Coast. These are lies. What you’ll really be getting is corruption, greed, and disrespect for elderly life. You won’t realize it until it’s too late, because who wants to believe such a beautiful place on the outside could be so ugly. If you do buy into the hype and decide to place your loved one there, I feel sorry for you. You deserve a fair warning that you’ll be treated as a nuisance and as a number. I recommend you look elsewhere for assisted living services. It will help you sleep at night to know you made the smart choice.

The best in Brevard.
Palm cottages is a wonderful facility. It is like staying at an all inclusive resort. Spacious rooms, that feels like home. Each cottage has 8-12 people. They have their own private bathroom with shower. The food is outstanding, everything is fresh. One chef to 2 cottages and their own kitchen in each cottage. I wish I could stay there, but I'm not old enough yet. The staff is truly amazing and very caring. I can finally rest knowing he is well taken care of.

My mom is well cared for at the Palm Cottages!
Thank you "A Place for Mom" for helping me find Palm Cottages! It has been a "night and day" experience from where she previously resided. From the personal attention, the smaller group living (cottages), the amazing cleanliness, the excellent food and the kind and truly caring staff. I am very pleased and highly recommend the facility. Since my mom is 97 years old, I expected a difficult transition to a new place and she completely surprised me. She likes it and there really was no adjustment issues. She has gained some much needed weight, she drinks more fluid, she socializes in the living room (which she would not do before), so I am thrilled. Thank you Palm Cottages!

I have seen stains on my dad's clothes..
I went in my dad's bathroom and there was feces on the shower curtain. I have seen stains on his clothes. He was suppose to get mail and it wasn't handled properly. Other than that, everyone there is very friendly. The facility itself is pretty clean. I just think they could improve on their care services. They could also improve on the activities. They have a calendar full of activities, but when I visit there is nothing going on.
