There was minimal memory care.
They made it look good but it wasn't. There was minimal memory care. If you want your relative sitting in a wheelchair all day or laying in bed, you have got the right plac. No adult should sit in a wheelchair more than 2 hours and max at 4 hours! There was one person my mother-in-law was afraid of. The room smelled like urine so bad when my husband came to get her stuff after she had broken her hip there. These places are all the same, they will leave your loved ones to sit and rot!!!! For yourself please get long term care so you can have a peaceful humane life at the end.

Upon arrival I was greeted with tremendous hospitality. The staff was awesome in regards to being attentive to my needs and making me aware of the support in the facility. Deer Creek has been very responsive to my uncle's needs and any requests that we have made. They have really tried hard to protect his dignity and genuinely seem to care about him. I chose Deer Creek because it catered to individuals with dementia and Alzheimer's. The facility is very open and easy to get around in. Great line of sight throughout.

Wonderful place!
My father is doing so much better than living at home! There are lots of people to entertain him and he loves to sit in the atrium and work on puzzles. He loves being around all the other residents and is really enjoying it so much!

This is a pretty community that feels like a chalet in the heart of Sarasota close to downtown and lots of restaurants which is a Perfect sjirt. The backyard courtyard area is inviting with tall, oak trees, and a garden area with water flowers. The inside is beautifully decorated and feels Homey.

Our families experience
We think the staff at Brookdale Deer Creek is overall very good Everyone seems to have a pleasant demeanor and have much patience with the residents.
It took our loved one awhile to adjust, but now is doing much better. There is always something to do to keep her busy.
We are always welcomed at the door with smiles. All of the staff is ready to answer any questions we may have and eager to help.

Found a gem!
It’s never easy looking for a facility for a parent or loved one, but we found Brookdale to be a gem! From the moment we made the decision to move my mom every leg of the journey has been made easy by the staff at Brookdale in Sarasota. We received our initial tour with [name removed] and every time a question pops up she was there to answer it. I can’t say enough about the staff, always pleasant, always available and we couldn’t be more happy with our decision. If you’re looking for a place for your family, this is truly a great facility with a caring staff.

When I first arrived for a tour, one of the very first things I noticed about Deer Creek was the fact it does not have that dirty smell. You can tell they do take great lengths to keep the building and residents as clean as possible. The next thing was I was greeted very warmly by the staff. [name removed] was an absolute delight to answer my many questions and tour the building with me. She introduced me to the other staff members as we walked around, including the executive director, chef, and several caregivers, as well as the Health and Wellness Director. The one thing that was crystal clear to me was the way the staff CARES about the residents & their well being. We got to sample some of the food being served for lunch (it was not planned, so no “special meal” was prepared) and quite frankly, it was delicious. If our family had in fact decided to relocate our mother to Florida, we definitely would have chose Deer Creek. It’s a warm and wonderful community

We've had issues here. I will say, it's a safe facility. They do have some wonderful staff here and those members are doing the best they can with the time that they have. They did a great job during the hurricane, a handful of staff stayed over night to make sure everyone was safe and taken care of. I visit everyday and I see how things are run. Overall, this place is so understaffed. We have now brought my loved one's regular Dr and Cardiologist on to take over care. While I was out of town, there was a med change. Same kind of medication, but they decided to stop the one my loved one was taking and try a different one. Long story short, the individual who inputted the med change removed the old medication from the computer but not from the med drawer. As a result, he gave my loved one BOTH of the medications for 10 days. When I got back into town and went to visit, I could tell something was wrong. My loved one seemed out of it and confused. That's when we discovered the error. The director assured me that the individual who made the error would no longer be running the med cart. A couple of days went by and he was back to doing the med cart. We're still working with them about that and some other things. Things get lost often. Housekeeping could be better. Overall, things could be much better than they are here right now.
