Above and beyond staff! Beautiful facility!
I really can't say enough about the staff. They are immensely kind and helpful. Acoya has experienced some turnover but they have always managed to recruit the right staff. The facility is absolutely beautiful. I think the apartments are good size. My mom chose a smaller unit and it is more than big enough for her. They are new and decorated with current furnishings. Plenty of space in kitchen and bathroom if a walker or wheelchair would be needed. Appliances are average I would say, but I don't believe many are doing much cooking and the washer/ dryer are actually very nice.

1 Year Later - Still Impressed!
1 year later... During the past year, "K" has declined further due to her Parkinson's disease. She now requires more help with her physical needs. Well...just when we thought Acoya Troon couldn't be any more accommodating or helpful, they added an LPN to their staff by the name of [name removed]. [name removed]works hard to find out of the box solutions to K's changing needs. She is as dedicated as her family at keeping her safe, engaged and well taken care of. Because of her, and because of the Senior Executive Director, [name removed] and the entire team at Acoya Troon, K is able to remain in an independent living setting and is still able to receive the care she needs. The majority of the residents at Acoya are high functioning and independent. But it's a godsend to know that if something happens, your loved one will be able to receive the care they need to age in place for as long as feasibly possible. We are beyond grateful.

I would highly recommend Acoya Troon
The big disappointment to me was the fact that they cannot give wound care maintenance. There is only one nurse on staff for 145 residents. My husband is only a level one in assisted-living and his may need is wound care for various dermatological invasions or just bumping himself since his skin is so thin and he bleeds. Our family was most impressed with the friendly staff that greeted us and has continued to make us feel that we are welcomed and care about. I would highly recommend Acoya Troon.

Wish we had found Acoya sooner!
I have been pleased right from the start! The support for my mom learning the new community and making friends, especially with her visual impairment has been amazing. The diligence and consistency with her getting her eye drops and medication has improved her vision dramatically since she has moved in. I am especially grateful for the happy, friendly and supportive staff. My mom feels very cared for.

Our new home is more that possibly expected!
The staff here is an outstanding group of people who are dedicated and caring and show us everyday how wonderful life can be. I have made a lot of new caring friends. The care staff has been outstanding with helping my husband. Getting involved here was very easy and very informative. I am proud to have started an outstanding small group of women who have been knitting and crocheting for over two years for various charities. Acoya has furnished us with funds for whatever we have needed and we affectionately call ourselves the Needle Nuts. We have given out our articles to three different charities and we look forward to many more!

Acoya Troon is comforting, fun and practical
I moved to Acoya Troon to find a sense of community and also the comfort of knowing care is nearby and available if my circumstances of being independent should ever change. I also have really enjoyed living in the Scottsdale area and so this location allows me to remain connected to my friends, theater and shopping, and all of my outside interests and hobbies. My experience living at Acoya Troon has been very good. I have met wonderful people and enjoyed connecting with all sorts of new friendships. This has definitely been a positive move for me and my plan for the future is to remain right here at Acoya!

As good as it gets!
The community is beautiful. The food is well above standard for a Care Community, it's more like high-end hotel quality. But what really gives them 5 stars across the board, is the care and attention to each individual resident. The family wanted a place where their mother could age in place as her needs changed. While Acoya Troon doesn't offer Memory Care, their incredibly high standards of personal care has allowed us to keep their mother in an independent setting even though she does have some memory issues. Yes, the rent is higher than some places, but check out what is included in their care and their willingness to keep each resident as independent as possible. In fact, we moved her from another facility who was jacking up care prices while not delivering the care charged for. They were trying to force a move to Memory Care. She is thriving at Acoya Troon. To us, the care and nursing staff is priceless. Her eldest son and DPOA says "Now I can finally sleep at night".

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Arizona regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Arizona regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Acoya Troon by Cogir 9.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
