A Place for Mom has scored The W Group with 5.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 21 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, The W Group has 82 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 3.2 out of 5.
We had several delays in the initial process to get her in. Several tests, medical assessment forms and much more. That was a bit frustrating but we got through it. The people, staff, caregivers were all very friendly and helpful there. My mother would need to have someone to help push her into those activities and such but when she did she enjoyed them. Especially Exercise.

My loved one usually eats the soup as they don't care for the food as it can be cold by the time the aides feed the residents that needs this first. Some of the aides aren't as kind as they could be to the residents. The community isn't changing my loved one's clothes as often as they could be. Ideally they would be changing the residents once a day for the clothing, and this isn't happening.

My mom complains about the food a lot, she says that they do not have a lot of variety. The staff members have been pretty good with communication during everything going on. Overall I would still recommend them, it's a nice facility.

It has been hard due to us now getting to interact with all the staff. I would suggest you look at another community. I believe we were sold a bill of goods. I've not been seeing activities being available for the residents. The community isn't doing another to stimulate the minds of the residents, when I am there.

The tour was really bad. At first sight it seemed dirty, There were many residents smoking right in front of the building. There were a lot of residents that seem to be there for other reason than senior care. They had room that were private and shared. The shared room was separated with bookshelves. They also had a communal shower for the residents. I felt uncomfortable and it looked junky.

I think in general they do a good job at Bayview Rest Home. they keep the facility, both the grounds and the individual rooms, beautiful. The staff here are also friendly and professional. However, the food is just terrible. I find about 80% of it to just be completely inedible. It's something I'd really like to see them work on.

I haven't been peronally. The friend I helped place her partner there after being in a nursing home said it's clean and comfortable. The location is excellent as it's a short walk to a shopping center. The only real complaint is the food. He said hospital and nursing home food is better. That's a mouthful. We weren't expecting aanything fancy.however, they have a staffed kitchen there is no reason that the food should be unacceptable. The occupant goes and purchases food everyday. That is something that needs to be worked on. Not everone has the capacity or the money to be able to repay for food daily.

Mom and I toured this community and were not impressed. It's just the little things. For example, when we walked in, I noticed that the fan was dusty/dirty. The overall cleanliness just didn't seem great.

My mother was living at Harbor House from the beginning of 2020 until her death in late April of that year. Unfortunately, because of COVID we were unable to see her the last month of her life, though we did call frequently. To this day, getting information about the last days of her life has been non-existent. Though we contacted the head nurse, the private nurse we had for her last weeks and the head administrator, all we got was a letter of sympathy. I know that they were in the midst of the Covid pandemic when she passed, but their callousness and insensitivity was mind boggling. Let's face it, my mom was in the memory care unit and while the head nurse was nice, the help was mostly abysmal. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this facility, though my experience is that most MC facilities are basically the same. It is heartbreaking.

The Oyster Bay Manor was clean and cozy, and a little too cozy for mom's taste. She's claustrophobic, and the rooms here (and that's all they are, rooms, like college dorm rooms) are small and kind of dark. There is no kitchenette, you're restricted to counter top fridge if any, and no microwave. The common areas reminded me of a loved aunt who has since passed. Her house was cluttered with over-stuffed furniture. It was well-loved, but too much in a small space. I was told there are only about 36 residents at the moment, and we are looking for a larger population for Mom to mingle with. Also, I found the medication management fee to be ridiculously high - twice what it is everywhere else. The bathrooms in the shared areas are locked and you need to get a key from the front desk to use them. Not ideal for seniors who sometimes have to go, and immediately. I also found it upsetting to see signs posted in the common areas that read "Do not discard diapers in the garbage pail."

There are several things about Bayview Rest Home that needs to be improved. It needs to be kept much cleaner. The food I can hardly even recognize. It was really overall not a good experience and I would not recommend them. They made a good sales pitch and were very solicitous, but in the end did not deliver.

The prices need updating. The rent you pay is based on what your income is. As your income goes up, so does your rent-but the services your receive remain the same. I came in on SSI. My rent was relatively low; double-occupancy room. I received about $190.00 allowance per month. Then, I was put on SSD, at $1999/month. My rent was then raised to $1800/month, and my allowance went down to $149/month and also because I was put on Medicare, paying a premium. For 2016, my rent was increased to $1850/month. I received a 2.5% increase in my SSD check, so my allowance remained the same. Then, I had to start paying $37.70/month for my prescriptions, so my allowance fell to $112.30/month. Now, beginning 1/1/17, my rent will go up to $1875/month, and no raise is expected for SSD. So, my allowance will be $87.30/month. There has not been and is no increase in number or quality of services. The food is not so good, most of the time the bread is stale, and the building isn't adequately cleaned, and we often see roaches throughout the building. If you want a private room, it's $3000/month, and going up on 1/1/17.

The building is aging. The plumbing is not adequate, the toilets and showers continually back up. Attempts are made at cleaning. Laundry is done. There are no social activities for those who need companionship and to be kept stimulated. The food in no way meets nutritional guidelines. It's prepackaged and frozen. Many residents who are able eat outside of the facility when possible. No respect for privacy. Residents walk into others rooms and go into their drawers. There is not adequate staff to supervise the population they are dealing with. We would all like to send our loved ones to the lavish Assisted Living Facilities that are available. Most middle class cannot afford them. These places are suppossed to fill in the gap. At $1,800 a month a better job can be done. If they cannot provide the basics being nutritious meals, a safe and stimulatimg environment and safety, I would not leave an aging family member there for one night. The residents are people who.for one reason or another are disenfranchised. They have no where else to go. No one wants to end up that way!

The rest home is centrally located allowing those that are mobile the ability to walk to shop etc. The building is aging. The plumbing cannot support the facility. Constant toilet and shower back ups. The rooms were relatively clean. Laundry done. No activitites provided for those that need the company and stimulation. The "food" is unacceptable. Prepackaged and TV frozen dinner in no way meets the daily nutrion guidelines. A hot breakfast to start off your day could not be accomplished. Family member purchased food from outside the facility at least once a day. Seemed that medication was given properly. Three pills and a glass of water, so not really a good judge on that account. This place @ $1,800 a month is not cheap. The luxurious assisted living where we'd all like our loved ones to go are not affordable for most of us. These places are in place to take the overflow for the "middle class". A better job needs to be done. I would not be comfortable leaving an aging family member there. This is a place where people go when they have no where else to go. Every resident has a different story. It all comes down to basics, these are people who are no longer capable of living on their own dealing with life's daily decisions and for one reason or another have damaged relationships with friends and family. For us , my friend was being discharged from a nursing home and was not capable of living on his own. He is over 55 but not "elderly". After a few months with the help of the few people still in his life he is in his own apartment. This was an eye opening experience for him. Showed him where he could end up permanently if he did not start taking responsibility for his actions. For that this place served us well.

The racism value is very favored ,the manager and employees are very bad people ,when you make the mistake of not knowing what your rights are ,the often take advantage . They are not concentrating on work but rather spending time smoking . The atmosphere there for foreigners is very poor. They don't pay attention to the employees they don't care about you ,for example when you are sick they don't pay you for your hours. When the authorities arrived there , they didn't even take the time to chat with employees to find out if they were in good condition or not , If you want to keep your Mental health don't go work there. This place is really dirty and uninhabitable.

Meals were good though but overall- worst experience. It's not what it seems on the outside. I have pictures of my mom's pm pills on her bedroom floor - when visiting her in the morning; She kept getting recurring urinary tract infections- she wasn't washed daily; etc. I refused to have her return. She is now walking properly and mentally better!

The W Group is all "Smoke and Mirrors" the inside looks ZERO like what is displayed on the site. Staff is controlling they place residents in fear of being stripped of their rights, scared to tell their families how they are being treated, they will CONVINCE FAMILIES that their Parent/Grandparent is "Confused" or "Having Trouble Adjusting Bui Doing Better" Roofs leak, Toilets overflow there is no actual medical staff there to help. If you can count to 25 you can become a "Med Tech, most residents have memory issues the facility and its staff DEPEND ON They twist what a resident says into something that MAKES THE FACILITY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND. Lack of staff to clean, residents with skin ulcers can't get a Band-Aid because THE "W" is a NON-Medical Facility. Residents lay in dirty puss filled beds for days. . EVEN IF YOU DESPISE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER THEY DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS PLACE
