Great staff, beautiful place
I went with my friend to visit her mother, whom has severe Alzheimer, and was in AWE of this place. Certainly a step up from the one I visited my grandmother in in Cali.([language removed] out there for $$$$).
There are activities and a very nice gathering room in her wing. The staff was busy but still very friendly with all the residents. It amazes me how friendly the workers are when they have so many to take care of, I'd be pulling my hair out.

Great staff, beautiful place

Perfect Fit
My mother in law is doing very well since coming here.She seems to be happy and well-adjusted. She is starting to socialize with the other residents and is doing some of the activities. She is liking the food which is good. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly very kind. I would recommend this community

We made a good choice finding needed living facilities for our two sisters.
The Shores of Lake Phalen appear to be above average in providing assisted living facilities. It has had its problems with change of ownership and directors in the past two years but seems to be making improvements with the present management team. As with any health care facility there is the problem of keeping good employees on staff with frequent turnover of caregivers. We admitted two sisters in April 2015, one to Memory Care Unit and the other to an assisted living apartment. At that time we were not very impressed with the caregivers in memory care except for one or two who seemed to try to relate to the patients needs and to initiate interactions rather than be task orientated. Our sister there passed away the following Dec. I understand they are now giving special training to the caregivers in Memory Care with emphasis on interaction and communication and they are providing the residents with more activities.
Our sister in assisted living is very satisfied with the facility and involved in many activities provided, games, special events and trips to Walmart, Dollar Store and grocery stores provided by the activity department. She has made many friends while there.
There is a problem with transportation to Doctor appointments. It would be great if a shuttle car could be available in the future for this purpose even if there was a fee charged.

An Excellent Choice for Our Mom
From the first visit the staff has been amazing. This was a difficult time for all of us, but the staff helped us at every turn. From touring the facility, to answering questions, getting my mom settled in her room and helping us decide what services were best for her, adding more when needed and keeping us informed about any changes with her. We are always to get any questions answered quickly. The facility is warm and welcoming, the food is excellent and there are lots of activities.

I like this care here for my father. The staff are nice and careing. The meals are good and he is pleased with the variety. The activiites are offered. We like knowing that this community is very cleand maintained. We would recommend other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

Very proactive and helpful during a stressful time.
The Shores Of Lake Phalen really helped us in a critical time. My mother was supposed to move into another community and hours before they cancelled on us. We frantically looked for options and The Shores had an evaluation set up later that afternoon. I really appreciated how prompt they were in our time of need.I would say the staff, cleanliness and activities are all a 5 here. The food is a 4 because my mother is not enthralled about it. Overall, I would recommend The Shores.

This community looked clean when I visited. When I walked in it did feel a little dreary. The people I met were nice and they were flexible when I needed to take the tour. They did not have the room we needed when we were looking.

Care for my mom
I am happy with the cafe here for my mom. The staff are very caring and nice. We find the community very clean. The meals are very good and enjoyed. She likes the variety of meals. We would recommend the care and value of this nice community.

Satisfied with This Community
My father is doing well with his move to this community. It is a nice community, and they are taking good care of him, and his needs. The staff is very good. There are a few activities available for the residents. He is pleased with meals. My mother will be making the move into the very soon, so we are pleased with all they have done for us.

A small nice tour
This was a nice community with nice staff members. They had a nice menu of meals that would have been served. The community was nice, but not what we were looking for. Families should tour this community for a decision on family needs for care and value.

No Complaints
My cousin is doing fine and she seems to be content. It was a good place to find. She has been enjoying most of the meals that are made. She also has been going down to some activities ans enjoys them. They were very accommodating and helpful at the beginning and they seem to take good care of her. She has not complained about the staff or residents.

Just Moved Mom In.
I chose this community because it is a newer development. I have a good feeling with Mom living at this community because the staff are attentive and easy to talk with. There are activities available but my mom has not yet to try one. My mom's room is always clean and I have no issues with the rest of the community being clean. My mom likes the food and she get alternatives if she does not want the meal served. I would recommend this community

Really Good Care
Mom was being discharged from the hospital and we had to
move fast. The Shores staff were friendly, helpful and very
courteous. Mom has gotten excellent care overall. The
place is very clean, there is lots to do and the food is excellent. Mom really likes it there.
All the staff have been excellent except for the activities
director who told me bluntly that my Mom belonged in
memory care. I told her I was having her tested and would
let the professionals decide. She was abrupt, judgmental
and unfriendly toward us. She is the only staff member
who has seemed insensitive to Mom's needs.

We don't really have any concerns at this point. The cost is always an issue, for the whole industry, but they were comparable to others in the area that offer similar services. The outside ambiance of the facility was more naturalistic, and we really liked that.

Need more activities for Senior living tenants
I have found the staff to be extremely helpful and courteous. My mother's primary complaint is that there isn't anything to do. Apparently there isn't near the amount of activities associated with the senior living apartment facilities at the Shores compared with one of her good friends who is living in a different but similar facility.

Couple with complex needs helped at The Shores
We recently placed John (Parkinson's and dementia) and his wife, Jane, (profound dementia) at The Shores of Lake Phalen. They had been in independent senior living for several months (many issues) and were moved to Shores in April, to assisted living. Still many issues. Shores advised Memory Care where they are now. Now they are closely supervised and guided. Nurses manage their meds, and they have the in-house Bluestone medical program.
We are very impressed and grateful for the compassionate leadership from all the staff at the Shores.

I’m very happy.
I’m very happy. My loved one lives there and I’ve only been there a couple of times, but my loved seems to really like it. It’s a nice place. We’re very happy. I’ve had difficulty finding parking sometimes. The food seems to be okay.
