All of the facilities I looked at prior to her going there were expensive, as is Poway Gardens, but Poway Gardens was more reasonable than all of the others. The staff is very friendly and competent. They are hard workers and are experienced and knowledgeable working with this often challenging population. Many have been there for a long time. Communication with them is excellent. Administrative staff is easy to contact and responsive to questions and needs. Moving in initially was smooth. You have the availability to connect with a healthcare agency that can provide regular visits to the facility so you don't have to take your family member out to the doctor. The facility itself is clean and organized. It has the feel of a house instead of a hospital/institution. The kitchen area and main room are filled with light and comfortable. It is regularly cleaned. There are a relatively small number of patients to each house. One aspect that has been especially helpful for my mom is the fairly strict schedule of time to wake up, meals, and bedtime. It has given her a rhythm and consistency, which helps with orientation and she knows what to expect each day. \nThe meals don't have a wide variety of dishes, but they are all well balanced, fresh, and healthy. Usually a meat, vegetable, carb, and dessert. Some of the vegetables are grown on site in their own garden. Overall, I would definitely recommend this facility. Cadence at Poway Gardens is a beautiful 32acre <b>100% memory care community</b> located in the naturally scenic hills of northern Poway. Our 86 resident bed community is made up of five (5) Garden Villas (6 bed ranch style homes) and two (2) larger homes that are comprised of a 24 resident bed home and 32 resident bed home, both being shared room environments. Within our 32acre community, we have five(5) organic gardens and a greenhouse, where our residents are able to learn about horticulture and also assist in the planting, growing and even harvesting , if they so choose, organic produce, alongside many of our volunteers and helpers in our children’s garden. We currently produce 24,000lbs each year, in which a large portion is used in our own kitchen for resident meals. We also offer fantastic intergenerational programs with the local youth of Poway. Local to us, St. Michaels Catholic and Montessori school, visit weekly (pre/post COVID), bringing our residents and these students together to interact and learn with one another and from one another. We’re a pet friendly community, that welcomes dogs, birds and fish at all locations. We are here to provide a safe, engaging environment for our residents. Our focus is in the retention / improvement of memory and cognition through our programs and activities. We are here to bring happiness and a greater quality of life to those who have memory and cognitive impairments. We do it with purpose and we do it with passion.
