Chamomile Assisted Living

The place is bright, clean and goo quality food and care. Meals are made from scratch not shipped in or reheated from a local service.

I can’t imagine a better assisted living place for my mother than Camomile 1. First, she has a great apartment – living area, sleeping area, kitchen alcove, bathroom and two large closets. Great windows and views. Second, the staff is personable and professional. Third, the meals are good – much more like home-cooking than institutional stuff. And best of all, Jeff [Removed], the owner and manager (also Camomile 2), is there six days a week and on-call at all times. He knows all the residents well (for example he knows my mother’s good ear is her right ear). Each afternoon at 2 pm he takes interested residents on bus rides around Madison and the surrounding area. He even took everyone on a Fourth of July ride – truly amazing. Camomile 1 is top in all categories and is reasonably priced.

I was able to take a tour of this community and I just did not feel comfortable. I met with the owner and he was a bit young and that just made me feel uneasy. I just did not like the place. Not right for my mother in law.

I went there and thought, oh my gosh, you have got to be kidding. Their big thing is that they have a bus and go anywhere in the city and take the people out and about, pretty much daily. I didn't really see a lot in the place that would provide a living environment, it looked like a YMCA center with a lot of mini apartments around it. There were a lot of activity centers, but no real sense of community. The person who owned it and ran it, seemed to be there only one who knew what they were doing. I wanted to put up a sign that said flee. The guy is a nice guy but seriously one stroke away from being inoperable.
