Academy House LLC

I was hesitant to move my mother from where she had been for 5 years, but I couldn’t be happier with Academy House! From the first day I visited I knew Academy House was the right fit! [name removed] and her staff made me feel so comfortable and were very helpful and gracious. My mom’s first moments there were proof she was in the right place! She went in and adjusted immediately and without hesitation. She tells everyone how much she likes it there . The home is lovely, clean and welcoming. The staff is fantastic and the food wonderful. My mom, who was hardly eating before her move, is now eating more and loving it! I am so much more at ease and relaxed, knowing my mother is so well cared for!

I would recommend to others. The Harvard house was always very clean. The staff was very friendly a excellent at meeting the needs of the residents from bathing to personal bathroom needs. The staff prepared wonderful meals from breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. All residents that were able ate all of their meals in the dining room. Other residents that were bedridden were brought their meals and someone would help feed them. The house was always decorated for each holiday. I could not have asked for better place for the care of my loved one.

The caring staff at Lake Villa House were excellent caregivers to her end of life. I wish I had known about personal care homes before I'd put mom in institutional care. But when I found Lake Villa House, it was as close to a home environment as my mom could get. The staff was caring and communicative and genuinely cared for my mother. If it was good enough for my mother, I'd recommend it to anyone else.

My mother was only here for one day. There was only one caregiver on duty during the day, and because she is not mobile, she needed more attendants. I really appreciated that they called me and were honest about this. The people were very open and friendly and all the other residents seemed happy right when you walked in the door. My mom is currently on the waiting list for another community that is owned by the same woman.

I really liked this community, and wish that my mom could have moved in, but they only have one attendant on staff at all times. I really love the owner, Peggy Stahls. She owns a couple homes in Metairie and they are all great.

A good place for non verbal or hospice patients...not a good place for a social resident...lacking in activities, general communication, and staff that care.
