Door is always open. As soon as you walk in you notice sitting area always clean and never a stinky smell. Staff is courteous and smiles all around. Walked in at night shift and they are friendly as well. Only had one time that they were questioning care of my mom. Breakfast and lunches are great. My mom doesn't care for soup and sandwiches for dinner every day so she eats in her room if my siblings or I take her something for a day or two to break up the daily soup. Activities, they do fun things for them. Bingo, arts and crafts, daily exercise and other things. For now the cost is okay. If they go up again in the next year, will have to evaluate other facilities. I realize Assistant Living is not cheap, but living on fixed income makes you reevaluate matters. The door is always open (unless with a family registration or something they want to bring up) and they are eager to hear how to make transitions or improvements. The facility is clean and and nurses/aides are always available to help or get answers for family members. What I love about The Harbor is that it's a small facility and almost one on one care or availability to help. The dining area is large enough for those that are in wheelchairs to move around. It's a 24/7, so after hours family members can still get through. The Harbor has had a bit of issues on getting a menu for the residents. Hopefully now that they have hired a new cook that issue will be taken care of. They host family and friends activities, so we are always involved. They also have a podiatrist and a dentist that come around, so the residents don't have to leave the facility for those services. Makes it very nice and convenient, especially with our weather changes. The only thing they need is an optometrist and a hearing doctor. I may ask Santa for those two doctors! This is my second placement for my mom and she is very comfortable. It's a bit pricey, but I guess there's other places that are a lot more expensive.
